Balloon crash passenger seeks ban

A passenger of a hot air balloon accident in suburban Melbourne has called for flights
to be banned over built-up areas.

KAY SPAGUE, a pilot with 10 years' experience, was one of 11 to make a lucky escape
when a hot air balloon crash-landed on a Caulfield rooftop this afternoon.

The flight, organised by Balloon Sunrise, made an emergency landing to avoid running
out out of fuel.

Caulfield resident CATHERINE ROSE was on the phone in her Eskdale Road house when the
balloon crashed on her roof.

She says her first thought was to be hospitable and to get drinks sorted out for the people.

Ms SPAGUE says she thinks it's too dangerous for hot air balloons to fly over houses
and should only fly in areas with lots of paddocks.
